Sen. Pavlov comments on State of the State address

LANSING—State Sen. Phil Pavlov, R-St. Clair Township, hosted Alan McTaggart, vice-chair of the Huron County Road Commission, at Gov. Rick Snyder’s 2014 State of the State address Thursday evening.

Pavlov issued the following statement after the governor’s address:

“The governor did a great job telling Michigan’s comeback story. In the past three years, Michigan has added 220,000 jobs, reversed its population loss, and jumped to 7th in the nation for personal income. I’m honored to have been a part of this reinvention, including turning a $1.8 billion budget deficit into a $970 million surplus.

“As the chair of the Senate Education Committee, I was pleased to hear the governor express his commitment to K-12 education and offer substantive ideas for improving our schools. It is critical that we help educators provide the best possible education for our kids.

“I am optimistic about the future of Michigan. We are in a much better place than just a few short years ago, and I will continue working to build a better Michigan.”
