Gov. Jeb Bush to address joint education committee hearing

WHAT:
Joint hearing of the House and Senate education committees.

WHO:
State Sen. Phil Pavlov and Rep. Paul Scott, education committee chairs, will receive testimony from Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida from 1999-2007 and current chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and Patricia Levesque, executive director of the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

WHY:
The joint hearing of the Senate and House education committees will host Gov. Bush and Patricia Levesque as they share successes and lessons from the Florida Formula for Student Achievement as part of a widespread effort to improve the quality of education in Michigan.

During his two terms as governor of Florida, Bush raised academic standards, required accountability in public schools and created the most ambitious school choice program in the nation.
